  • Objectives
    This major, which can be studied as part of the Bachelor of Agribusiness, will provide you with business management training, particularly as it relates to commercial farming, with a focus on agricultural technology. The major focuses particularly on the technical areas of livestock and crop production. You will studys a number of technical units in crops, soils, pastures and animal production alongside agribusiness units in accounting, taxation, farm management, marketing, economics, extension, and consulting and finance. The major will help you develop your individual talents and personality to equip you for a leadership role in the agricultural industry and the community in general by developing your skills in communication, information literacy and teamwork. You will also develop the skills required to assume managerial responsibilities of commercial farming operations or to enter farm consulting practices and agricultural extension.

    Farm Management Major

    Introduction

    The farm management major provides business management education in a whole farm and agribusiness systems framework as it relates to commercial farming. Technical units including livestock and crop production are a major focus. It aims to develop the individual talents and personalities of the students and equip them for a leadership role in the agricultural industry and the community in general, through the learning program that develops skills in communication, information literacy and teamwork. It also provides graduates with the skills to assume the managerial responsibilities of commercial farming operations or to enter farm consulting practices and agricultural extension. For those intending to become teachers this major provides an initial qualification prior to undertaking teaching studies.
