The course provides students with understanding and practical competence in the scientific, social, ethical and legal dimensions of the practice of environmental science.

    The Bachelor of Environmental Science develops effective technological and communication skills to work collaboratively with employers, colleagues and the community.

    Graduates are able to apply the relevant and current knowledge and skills they have gained to the practice of their profession with the highest ethical standards. Graduates are effective researchers and decision-makers with skills in critical thinking, problem solving and analysis.

    Professional Recognition

    Graduates and students enrolled in the course will be eligible for the appropriate category of membership of the Environment Institute of Australia. Graduates who undertake a Graduate Diploma in Education with teaching qualifications may be accredited to teach in Secondary science in NSW Schools.

    Bachelor Environmental Science (Pass and Honours)
    BEnvSc

    240 cp (Pass)

    Minimum duration: 3 years full-time or equivalent part-time.

    80 cp (Honours)

    Minimum duration: 1 year full-time or equivalent part-time.

    Course available at: Sydney (North Sydney), NSW

    EFTSL value of units: All 10 cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a cp value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.

    1. Requirements for Completion of the Pass Degree

    To qualify for the Pass degree, a student must complete:

       1. 240 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:
             1. 120 cp from Environmental Science Units;
             2. 120 cp from Science Units;
       2. required Volunteer Experience22;
       3. Field Experience23.

    2. Requirements for Completion of the Honours Degree

    To qualify for the Honours degree a student must, in addition to satisfying the requirements of the Pass degree, complete 80 cp from the Schedule of Honours Units, consisting of:

       1. 60 cp from Core Units; and
       2. 20 cp from Electives.
