  • Objectives
    This course aims to assist adult learners of non-English speaking backgrounds to develop language and literacy skills to undertake further education and training, seek and maintain employment and participate in the community.
  • Entry requirements
    Students would be expected to have reached a minimum survival level of English and be over 18 years of age.

    Applicants will be required to attend an interview with the coordinator to ascertain correct entry point to the course.

    Entrance can be obtained through; a; Language, Literacy and Numeracy Program (LLNP), b; Adult Migrant Education Program (AMEP), c; fee for service or d; profile classes.
  • Course description
    Course Structure
    The course is made up of core and elective modules including speaking, listening, reading, writing and numeracy.

    Assessment
    Assessment within the Certificate is criterion referenced. Students are assessed for each competency by completing language based tasks throughout the course.

    Employment Opportunities
    May lead directly to the workforce or students are able to transfer to other study or training.

    Study Pathways
    Certificates in General Education for Adults, vocational education and training programs/further education and employment.
