A candidate for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy shall undertake a program of study and research approved by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research). The program shall include the presentation of a thesis and/or other work approved by the Committee, embodying the results of the candidate's study and research, for examination. A supervisor or supervisors shall be appointed with the approval of the University. Subject to the general direction of the Dean, supervisor(s) will provide direction and advice to the candidate. Potential candidates should consult the University's Rules for the Degree of Master by Research Applicants into this course are required to provide: referees reports, research proposal outline (400-600 words), certified academic transcripts and other supporting documentation.

You must have completed the equivalent of an Australian Bachelor degree with second class Honours division A, or an Australian Masters degree (with a substantial research component). Alternatively, you may have other qualifications and/or experience equivalent to these degrees. If you are a domestic student applying for a Masters or PhD program and/or a Scholarship, you will need to attach: * A scholarship application form * Two referee reports * Certified photocopies or a printout of supporting documents including all units/subjects with grades for qualifying degrees * Research proposal If you are a permanent resident, but not an Australian citizen, you are required to supply a certified copy of the relevant pages of your passport as proof of residency status.
