Objectives:
The Graduate Certificate in Laboratory Health, Safety and Environment Management Systems provides students with the necessary skills and background for employment in biotechnology and laboratory management. Major areas of study include teamwork, efficiency, accountability and compliance with quality and occupational health and safety procedures. These programs provide students with the theoretical and practical knowledge to engage in a diverse range of employment opportunities. These include working in the field of modern science in areas including government research laboratories, industry control laboratories, hospitals, pathology and medical laboratories and education technical support areas.
Entry Requirements:
Graduate Certificate in Laboratory Health, Safety and Environment Management Systems applicants will need to have completed a Diploma, an Advanced Diploma or a Bachelor degree or higher education qualification in science, or have a minimum of five years work experience in a laboratory supervisory role. You may be required to attend an interview. All course applicants will also be expected to have relevant language, literacy, numeracy and communication skills to achieve the outcomes of this course.

Duration
The Graduate Certificate in Laboratory Health, Safety and Environment Management Systems is a part-time one-year course. Students can expect approximately 10 hours of class attendance each week. Student intakes are generally in February and July. Additional enrolments may occur throughout the year.

Selection Criteria
If there are more applicants for the Graduate Certificate in Laboratory Health, Safety and Environment Management Systems than course vacancies then preference will be given to applicants with a demonstrated interest in developing skills and knowledge in the area of laboratory health and safety and environment management (HSE) systems.
