Objectives:
Provides an alternative entry pathway to selected undergraduate teaching degrees at ECU for: * Education Assistants with experience; * People contemplating working as Education Assistants; and * People wishing to pursue further studies in teaching. Designed to enable Education Assistants to understand how they can effectively support teachers in facilitating children's learning in a primary or secondary school setting. Successful completion of the course provides students with eligibility for employment as Education Assistants in schools. The course also prepares students for university level study by teaching the required skills for academic success, with an emphasis on the student becoming an independent learner
Entry Requirements:
Open to school leavers up to 20 years of age and mature age applicants. Special admission requirements A genuine interest in children and learning is required.

This course is not available for on-campus study by students on an International student visa.

The University Preparation Course (Education Assistant Program) is a 60 credit point (4 unit) University Certificate course, that is studied in part-time mode over the course of a year. The course is delivered on the Joondalup campus. Students study the Program by attending classes conducted during weekend sessions.
