  • Course description About the course

    The Graduate Certificate in Family and Community History has been developed to teach the practical skills of the historian.

    It introduces students to family and local history, the variety of sources and the fundamentals of research. Its aim is to equip students with the necessary skills to undertake family history, local history and site study research.

    This course is offered through the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (Wagga Wagga).

    Aims and objectives

    The primary aim of the course is to produce graduates capable of successfully planning and completing local or family historical research.

    On completion of the Graduate Certificate in Family and Community History students should be able to:

        * plan and complete family and local historical research
        * identify and use a variety of historical research methodologies
        * access, evaluate and interpret sources from archival, museum and library collections
        * conduct oral history projects and site studies
        * demonstrate an ability to use a range of historical sources.

    Graduation requirements

    To graduate, students must satisfactorily complete 32 points, which is made up of two 16 point subjects.
