Graduate Certificate in GIS and Remote Sensing [exit point only] GradCertGIS&RemoteSens

    About the course

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS) have become key technology tools for the collection, storage and analysis of spatially referenced data. Industries that utilise these spatial technologies include agriculture, forestry, mining, market research, environmental analysis as well as the social and medical sciences.

These courses in GIS and RS will allow graduates to build their knowledge and practical expertise in GIS and RS technology and applications from an introductory graduate certificate level through to a high level of expertise with independent study and project experience at the Master level.

Exit points from the Master program are provided at the Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma levels. This structure provides considerable flexibility allowing students to quickly gain the GIS and RS knowledge and qualification they need today, and to add to their credentials at a later date if necessary. Students develop a capacity for independent research, problem analysis and solution.

Students undertaking the course will develop their knowledge and understanding through formal coursework and a program of independent reading. Their research, analytical and problem-solving skills will be developed through analysis and the completion of a research project or a literature review.

There is a practical component associated with this course.

    Residential school

Some subjects in this course have a compulsory residential school requirement which requires attendance at the Albury-Wodonga or Wagga Wagga campuses for between two and four days' duration.
