Master of International Hotel and Resort Management (Professional)
ObjectivesThe Master of International Hotel and Resort Management (Professional) program is designed for students requiring advanced knowledge about the hotel and resort industry. Students complete a program of core business and advanced hotel and resort management subjects designed to enhance their financial, analytical and management skills. This program prepares students for senior professional and managerial roles. Emphasis is placed on revenue and asset management within a hotel or resort context. Students complete all subjects from the Master of International Hotel and Resort Management program, and then have the option of undertaking a 20 week Work Integrated Learning subject.
Practical experienceWork Experience & Internships Some students without practical work experience, or with workplace experience in a field different from their studies, choose to undertake an internship as part of their degree. This intensely practical professional development approach fosters graduates who are ready, willing and able to hit the ground running and make an immediate impact in the workplace.
Entry requirementsAdmission to the Master of International Hotel and Resort Management program requires successful completion of a recognised Bachelor degree or qualifications and/or relevant professional experience deemed equivalent by the Faculty Dean.

Course descriptionEnrolment
International Students: To fulfil your student visa requirements, you’ll need to enrol in 30cp per semester. However, you may enrol in 40cp per semester (with your Program Advisor’s authorisation) which will reduce the time to complete your program. Domestic Students have the option of undertaking either 30 or 40cp per semester.

Graduates should have highly developed analytical and management skills that will enable them to professionally advance their career prospects within the hotel and resort industry.
WORK INTEGRATED LEARNING
Work Integrated Learning is designed to promote and support student learning, personal development and professional practice. Students are responsible for sourcing industry projects themselves and are mentored by academic staff and their industry sponsor with agreed-upon learning objectives.
Assessment includes planning documents, regular meetings with their academic mentor and industry sponsor, a final report presentation to peers, academic mentor and industry sponsor. The subject aims to: facilitate students’ self-analysis and reflective issues and problems; and apply theoretical knowledge in seeking solutions for practical workplace problems.
