Master of Legal Systems

  • Objectives The Master of Legal Systems focuses on:

    * The fundamentals of common and civil law systems
    * Theories and methods of comparative law
    * Broad trends for change in common and civil law systems
    * The application of comparative law theories and methods in related areas of law
    * Gaining an understanding of the laws of other countries in selected areas of law.
  • Academic title Master of Legal Systems
  • Course description Students who do not have a law degree from a common law system must complete Fundamentals of the Common Law, as well as seven subjects from the prescribed list.

    Students with a law degree from a common law system must complete at least seven subjects from the prescribed list and may choose an eighth subject from those available in the Melbourne Law Masters (excluding Fundamentals of the Common Law).
