  • Course description
    This 2-day weekend course provides participants with an intensive (and fun!) immersion in aural and musicianship training. Designed for current and about-to-commence university music students, VCE music students, music teachers and anyone with an intermediate to advanced ability in aural and musicianship (minimum level AMEB grade 3 theory/musicianship), this course will refresh, enrich and extend your aural and musicianship skills. The perfect warm-up for the year ahead!

    Each morning: (everyone together)

    Morning large group session: Let's Sing!
    Lecture session: theory/musicianship 

    Each afternoon (break into small groups)
    Participants can choose one subject from Group A and one subject from Group B. Each subject will run across the two days of the course, with the Sunday session following on from the material covered in Saturday’s session.

    Group A Subjects (early afternoon sessions)

    • Essential Skills for Unit 1 VCE Music 
    • Essential Skills for Unit 3 VCE Music
    • Analysis 
    • Harmony writing 

    Group B Subjects (late afternoon sessions)

    • Counterpoint writing 
    • Harmony singing 
    • Rhythm – percussion-based 
    • Figured bass (at least intermediate keyboard skills required)
