  • Objectives
    This double degree prepares graduates to teach in their chosen field of study in secondary schools. * Students wishing to become specialist mathematics teachers will enrol in the mathematics stream of the double degree. * Those wishing to become specialist science teachers will enrol in either the physical science specialisation (Physics or Chemistry), or in the biological science specialisation. * Health & Physical Education specialists will enrol in the sports science component of the double degree. Graduates are qualified to work in State or Independent schools systems. This double degree provides a realistic and relevant balance between professional education studies and content studies for prospective mathematics and science teachers. Graduates from the program will have a qualification in both education and in their science, mathematics or H&PE disciplines. They can become professional secondary school teachers, or explore employment in professions such as research assistants, consultants in environmental businesses and laboratory technicians, sport and fitness consultants and allied health professionals.
  • Entry requirements
    Applicants will require * For Mathematics: Satisfactory result in TEE Calculus or Applicable Mathematics or equivalent. * For Science (Physical Science): TEE Applicable Mathematics, TEE Physics, TEE Chemistry or equivalent. * For Science (Biological Science): TEE Science subject, or equivalent, is preferable. Special admission requirements All students enrolling in this course will be required to submit a National Criminal History Check Information Clearance (Crimtrac) before commencing their first period of Professional Practice - further information can be found at the Department of Education and Training Screening website. All students aged 18 years and over, will also need to apply for a Working with Children Check in order to complete their Professional Practice - further information can be found at the Working With Children Check website.
