  • Objectives
    The Certificate II in Building and Construction (Bricklaying Pre-apprenticeship) and Certificate III in General Construction (Bricklaying /Blocklaying) will equip you with skills and knowledge to work in the trade industry in various roles. The Certificate II in Building and Construction (Bricklaying Pre-apprenticeship) covers the relevant materials, equipment and occupational health and safety procedures to ensure students work safely and effectively on a building site. This course provides an excellent entry level introduction to the industry and is also designed to enhance apprenticeship prospects in bricklaying and/or associated building trades. Certificate II graduates will need to be indentured by an employer before they continue their training as an apprentice.
  • Entry requirements
    There are no specific entry requirements for the Certificate II in Building and Construction (Bricklaying Pre-apprenticeship). You should be able to read and write documents and understand maths concepts equivalent to a Year 10 qualification*. Applicants may be required to attend an information session and your skills may be evaluated at this time. * If you cannot read and write documents and complete maths work to the level required you may be accepted in to the Certificate II in Building and Construction (Bricklaying Pre-apprenticeship), but you may be enrolled in additional subjects to help you build the skills needed to successfully complete the program.

    Duration
    The Certificate II in Building and Construction (Bricklaying Pre-apprenticeship) is a full-time course studied in 20 weeks. Students can expect approximately 32 hours of class attendance each week. Student intakes are generally in March.

    Selection Criteria
    Certificate II in Building and Construction (Bricklaying Pre-apprenticeship) applicants will be admitted in to the course in date order of applications.
