    WHAT IS A TRAINEESHIP? Traineeships are normally a 12-month package that consists
    of employment and training. Training where possible can be customised to meet the requirements of the enterprise and delivered in the most appropriate manner, whether it be at work or at the Institute. There are special government subsidies and rates of pay and conditions for trainees.
    Trainees must be fifteens years of age or over and must have an employer who has agreed to employ them as a trainee. Traineeships are for new employees or employees that have been employed for less than three months on a full time basis or 12 months on a part time basis

    WHAT IS THE WATER INDUSTRY OPERATIONS TRAINEESHIP?
    Water Industry Operations Traineeships are targeted to workers who have a desire to work in the water industry.
    The main areas in which you might work are:
    • Catchment areas and dams;
    Water distribution;
    • Irrigation;
    • Waste water;
    Water treatment.

    This course is accredited by the Australian National Training Authority and the State Government and carries recognition from the Water Industry Commission

    WHAT ARE THE COURSE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?
    A trainee should apply for enrolment at the Institute as soon as the employer has agreed to employ him/her as a trainee and a copy of a Training Agreement has been obtained from the State Training Board.

    HOW IS THE COURSE STRUCTURED?
    This course comprises of 400 hours of student learning and is a mixture of on-the-job and off-the-job training.
