    CHCAC15A Provide Care Support which is Responsive to the Specific Nature of Dementia – 40 hours
    Provision of care to clients with dementia in a variety of settings including family houses, community day settings and residential care.

    CHCAC1C Provide Support to an Older Person – 45 hours
    This unit describes the knowledge and skills required by workers within their designated role and responsibilities to support older people maintain their quality of life.

    CHCAC2C Provide Personal Care – 50 hours
    This unit describes the knowledge and skills required by workers to support older people maintain their quality of life.

    CHCCOM2B Communicate Appropriately with Clients & Colleagues – 20 hours
    Exercising effective communication skills in the workplace.

    CHCAC3C Orientation to Aged Care Work – 50 hours
    This unit describes the roles and responsibilities by the worker in their role as a carer to perform work that reflects an understanding of the structure and profile of the residential aged care sector and key issues facing older people in the community. This unit applies to all workers in the aged care sector or those working with older people.

    CHCAC6C Support the Older Person to Meet their Emotional and Psychosocial Needs – 70 hours
    This unit describes the knowledge and skills required by the worker to support the older person meet their emotional and psychosocial needs.

    CHCCS401A Facilitate Co-operative Behaviours – 30 hours
    This unit is concerned with the competencies required to respond to unacceptable behaviour and support responsibility for behaviour management and change.

    CHCDIS1C Orientation to Disability Work – 50 hours
    This unit is intended to provide an introduction to working with people with a disability.

    CHCINF8A Comply with Information Requirements of the Aged Care and Community Care Sectors –
    35 hours
    This unit describes the knowledge and skills required by the worker to undertake administrative duties of the role including documenting in client records and contribute to the development and monitoring of service delivery plans in accordance with organisational and duty of care requirements.

    CHCOHS302A Participate in Safety Procedures for Direct Care Work- 30 hours
    On completion of this unit, the worker in these particular sectors will be able to accurately identify the major occupational health and safety hazards, manual handling, together with other hazards that may include dealing with aggressive behaviours, stress etc. The worker will also be able to assess related risk as well as follow instructions and procedures with minimal supervision and support. The worker will also be capable of participating and contributing to OHS management issues.

    CHCORG3B Participate in the Work Environment – 20 hours
    Working effectively as an individual and in work groups to contribute to achievement of organisational objectives.

    HLTFA301B Apply Basic First Aid – 18 hours
    This unit of competency deals with the provision of essential First Aid in recognising and responding to an emergency using basic life support measures.

    HLTIN301A Comply with infection control policies and procedures in health work - 20 hours
    This unit describes the skills and knowledge required of workers to understand and comply with infection control guidelines. Policies and procedures may be organisational, industry - based and/or legislated. The unit applies to a wide range of workers in health industry settings reflecting the importance of controlling infection risks and self-protection.

    Assessment
    Simulated workplace assessment , written assignments, research activities and classroom participation and on the job assessments.
