The Certificate III in Beauty is recognised as an entry level qualification with graduates gaining positions as Beauticians, Nail Technicians and Retail Cosmetic Consultants. A Traineeship is a training agreement between the employer and employee where the employer provides on the job training. The employee (trainee) must also complete an off the job training component by attending a Registered Training Provider on a part time basis. Chisholm Institute offers flexible client focussed training.

    Students will be required to attend lectures at the Institute for 30 hours as well as completing assignment and research work to the equivalent of 18 hours. A practical placement component will enable the student to apply the knowledge and skills acquired in the workplace. The practical placement component for Certificate III in Beauty consists of 150 hours industry placement. The hours and learning outcomes will be recorded in the student’s logbook.

    Unit 2: Manicure, Nail Science & Lash and Brow Services

    This unit provides the knowledge and skllls to prepare clients and perform basic manicure services.
    Students will learn the basic anatomy of skin and the function of the lower arms and legs and the effects of treatment products. Lash and brow treatments include tinting, eyelash perming, extensions and brow shaping.

    Unit 3: Nail Enhancement (Artificial Nail Applications) and Nail Art

    Students will gain the knowledge and skills to prepare clients and perform the application of gel and acrylic nails. Removal of artificial nails, refills and nail art are integral components of this unit.

    Unit 4: Pedicure and Applying Safe Work Practices/Salon Duties

    This unit provides the knowledge and skills to prepare clients and perform a basic pedicure service.
    Students will also study basic safety and emergency procedures, occupational health and hygiene
    regulations, first aid and salon cleaning requirements.

    Unit 5: Make Up & Ear Piercing

    Students will learn to prepare clients and design and apply make-up for day, evening, bridal and
    photography. Product knowledge and selection and client consultation, support the practical
    applications. Students will prepare clients and perform ear piercing services in accordance with
    occupational health and hygiene regulations.

    Unit 6: Waxing A (Temporary Epilation)

    This unit provides the knowledge and skills to prepare clients and perform epilation services using strip wax.

    Unit 7: Waxing B (Temporary Epilation)
    WRBSS302B.2 Provide Temporary Epilation and Bleaching Treatments
    WRBCS305A Apply a Knowledge of Skin Biology to Beauty Treatments

    This unit provides the knowledge and skills to prepare clients and perform epilation services using hot wax. Students will also study the structure and function of hair. Preparation and application of bleaching treatments is also undertaken in this unit.
