  • Objectives
    Certificate III in Beauty Services will equip you with relevant and comprehensive skills and knowledge to successfully enter Beauty Therapy and related cosmetic industries. Certificate III in Beauty Services covers basic levels of skin biology and science, temporary epilation, eyelash and brow tinting, nail grooming services, manicure and pedicure, make-up services and retail customer service skills. Certificate III in Beauty Services offers elective options in Nail Technology. You will be eligible to receive the Certificate III in Beauty Services on successful completion of all required competencies.
  • Entry requirements
    If you would like to study the Certificate III in Beauty Services you must apply directly to the Gordon institute of TAFE. You will need to complete a direct entry application form, which is available from course information. Please refer to the Gordon’s website www.gordontafe.edu.au or contact course information for guidelines and current direct entry application information. There are no specific entry requirements for the Certificate III in Beauty Services. You should be able to read and write documents and understand maths concepts equivalent to Year 10. You may also be required to attend an information session and your skills may be evaluated at this time. Note: If you cannot read and write documents and complete maths work to the level required you may be accepted to the course, but you may be enrolled in additional subjects to help you build the skills needed to successfully complete the program.

    Duration
    Certificate III in Beauty Services is a part-time 35–week course. Students can expect approximately 6–9 hours of class attendance each week over three nights. Student intakes are generally in February.

    Selection Criteria
    Students who meet the above entry requirements will be accepted to study the Certificate III in Beauty Services in date order of their application.

    If applications exceed course vacancies then selection criteria will apply. Application preference will then be based on an interview, where you will be asked to demonstrate conceptual and technical abilities as well as outline your experience or knowledge of the industry.

    Links and options exist between various levels of study. Accredited pathways exist enabling students to move between courses within the Gordon and to other higher education institutions.

    Gordon Institute Support Services

    The Gordon offers a range of support services to assist prospective students with course, career or fee advice. For enrolled students, the Gordon provides general education support, counselling and careers advisors, disability support services and an Indigenous Education Unit. The Gordon also offers an on-campus Student Residence for students living away from home.
