  • Objectives
    This training program provides trainees with the knowledge and skills (competencies) required by the composites industry. The training is divided into three Certificate levels with a minimum of seven competencies per level. a maximum of one year and a minimum of six months per certificate. Integration of certificate competencies can further reduce training time. The course provides broad-based training in skills required for employment in the composites industry. Specialist areas include advanced laminating, patterns/plugs, moulds, spray up and closed mould manufacturing.

    Workplace Traineeship

    Introduction:
    This training program provides trainees with the knowledge and skills (competencies) required by the composites industry.

    Entrance Requirements:
    To complete Certificate III in Plastics, Traineeship a student must have entered into a “Contract of Training” with their employer as a trainee.

    What Career Opportunities Exist in Composites?
    Employer demand for composites staff exceeds supply. Completion of a traineeship opens up another world of highly rewarding opportunities in operator, technician, sales and management careers.

    How is the course structured?
    Competency Based:
    The program is broken up into units of competencies. You will perform given tasks within a unit to a set standard
    to ensure that you are competent in the skills required by that competency.

    Intake:
    Start times are flexible; students can be enrolled at any time throughout the year.

    What does the course involve?
    It provides broad-based training in the skills required for employment in the composites industry. Specialist areas include advanced laminating, patterns/plugs, moulds, spray up and closed mould manufacturing.

    How long is the training?
    The training is divided into 3 Certificate levels with a minimum of 7 competencies per level. A maximum of one year and a minimum of 6 months for per certificate. Integration of certificate competencies can further reduce training time.

    Can I do further study?
    Students may proceed to Certificate IV in Polymer Technology.

    Is the course recognized?
    Yes. Certificates I, II & III in Plastics are nationally accredited training programs.
    Exemptions:
    You may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) exemptions if your work and/or life experiences match the learning outcomes of the course. RPL is the acknowledgement of skills and knowledge obtained through formal training, work experience and life experience.

    Can Non Trainees do the Course?
    Yes. You don’t have to be a trainee. Students can enrol in the same training packages, with similar enrolment fees. However, traineeships do have government incentive grants for employers.
