Course Outline
This course is designed for indigenous people to develop their artistic skills and mirrors the requirements ofworking in the visual arts and contemporary crafts industries.
A selection of core and elective units are offered at Dandenong campus and these vary each semester depending on demand and pathways:
• Units covering Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander identity and cultural arts plus history and theory applied to artistic practice, provide the opportunity to develop artistic skills reflecting identity and pride in culture.
• Training and skills for further study and/or employment are provided by units covering Health, Safety and Security Procedures, Computer Technology and Book-Keeping.
• Electives such as Painting, Jewellery, Drawing, Ceramics and Photo Imaging build artistic skills
• Career prospects include: artist, small business, community activities. Pathways into diploma study in areas of art or business.

February and July. Some flexible entry is negotiable.

Part-time: 2 years (18 Hours Weekly)
Course hours are nominal only and may vary from semester to semester.

Assessement of student's skills and determination of learning and pathway needs.

Are There Any Other Special Requirements?
Applicants must be Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Certificate IV requires assessment of skill at level III. Students need to exhibit a commitment to study plus a willingness to accept constructive feedback and to working in a respectful, participatory environment.
