  • Objectives
    The Gordon's environmental technology courses have been specifically designed for people who have either recently started work in the waste management industry or who are experienced waste management personnel employed by either local government or commercial providers who want to receive a formal qualification. In addition Certificate III units, Certificate IV students will learn about operation of equipment, supervision of personnel, monitoring, audition and solving problems at a waste site, business and also occupational health and safety strategies. Certificate IV in Asset Maintenance (Waste Management) graduates will have furthered their understanding of supervisory and monitoring roles in the waste industry and enhanced their managerial status to include improved technical expertise and strategic management. These graduates may be employed as managers in the waste management industry.
  • Entry requirements
    To apply for either waste management course you must be currently employed as a trainee or apprentice under a training contract. You will need to undertake a Pre-training Review to determine your current skills and literacy and numeracy abilities. This Review will form the basis of your Individual Training Plan.

    Duration
    The Certificate IV in Asset Maintenance (Waste Management) is a part-time three-year course. All training is conducted in the workplace. Student intakes are ongoing as referred by employers.

    Recognition of Prior Learning

    Recognition of prior learning (RPL) may be given for skills and knowledge gained through previous study or other relevant experience. For further information refer to the RPL brochure that can be found under Downloads & Forms.
