  • Objectives
    The Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy will equip you with skills and knowledge to perform beauty and facial treatments. You will study make-up artistry options, treatments for the hands and feet and how to sell and merchandise beauty products. The course enables students to develop beauty therapy commercial skills, with studies including retail and salon business practices. Your beauty services training will be enhanced with further studies on skin biology, skin science, nutrition and physiology and cosmetic chemistry. You will also learn skills in advanced facial treatments, temporary epilation and bleaching treatments and also development of beauty therapy treatment plans. Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy graduates may enter the industry as beauty practitioners, beauty consultants or beauty therapists. You will be eligible to receive the Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy on successful completion of all required competencies. These courses are based at the Gordon’s City Campus, Fenwick St, Geelong and are delivered by the School of Business and Management.
  • Entry requirements
    If you are interested in studying the Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy full-time you must apply through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC). Please refer to the VTAC website or the VTAC Guide (available from newsagents) for specific application information and extra requirements that may apply. Direct entry applications to study the Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy may be made after the VTAC Very Late Application closing date if course places are still available. You will be expected to have relevant language, literacy, numeracy and communication skills to study the Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy. For non Year 12 applicants, the Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy requires you to be at least 18 years of age and to have been out of full-time study for at least 12 months. All VTAC applicants will be required to complete a Beauty Therapy Supplementary Application form and attend an information session.

    Duration
    The Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy is studied full-time over 12 months*. Students can expect approximately 20 hours of class attendance each week. Student intakes are generally in February (VTAC).

    Selection Criteria
    Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy applicants will be assessed on the information provided in the Beauty Therapy Supplementary Application Form.

    If there are more applicants than course vacancies then preference will be given to applicants who have demonstrated knowledge of and interest in the beauty therapy industry.

    Links and options exist between various levels of study. Accredited pathways exist enabling students to move between courses within the Gordon and to other higher education institutions.

    Recognition of Prior Learning
