  • Objectives
    In this course you will study financial accounting and banking law. You will explore lending, learning risk assessment techniques for consumers and small business. You will analyse and interpret balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cash flows and funds statements and consider how these impact risk assessment, industry structure analysis and the competitive environment. You will also complete a unit in bank management which will develop your understanding of liquidity and balance sheet risk management techniques, financial market supervision, decision-making processes and policy formulation in financial institutions.

    Introduction

    This course is designed for staff of financial institutions who wish to undertake formal banking studies to satisfy their career development requirements. Students who successfully complete the graduate certificate may compete for places in the Graduate Diploma in Banking and Finance if they achieve a CWA of at least 60 or equivalent.

    Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

    Entry is to students either without a degree but with at least five years of relevant industry experience, or students with a degree in a discipline other than banking.

    Duration and Availability

    This fee-paying course is one year part-time study.

    Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
