  • Course description
    This unit deals with the provision of advanced first aid RESUSCITATION TECHNIQUES, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance, and provision of support to other providers.

    Recommended for: First Aiders and other staff who may be required to administer First Aid RESUSCITATION on the job

    Course Duration: Two days (may be additional pre reading or tasks)

    Prerequisites: This unit should be assessed after achievement of HLTFA301B Apply First Aid, HLTCPR201A Perform CPR or HLTFA201A Provide emergency life support. In general it is recommended that people using advanced resuscitation techniques have completed HLTFA301B Apply first aid.

    Course Content:
    1. Prepare resuscitation equipment ready for use
    2. Apply bag and mask resuscitation technique
    3. Attach and operate an AED
    4. Administer oxygen
    5. Operate suction equipment
    6. Restore and maintain equipment ready for future use4

    Assessment Method: Participation in class discussions, demonstration of practical skills and written assessment

    Course Award: On successful completion of the course participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the nationally recognised unit of competency from the HLT07 Health Training Package, Apply Advanced First Aid HLTFA402B and a wallet card
