  • Objectives
    This program aims to develop competent railway signal engineers and future leaders of the signalling profession by stimulating students with learning experiences that aim to develop a well-rounded knowledge base and generic engineering competencies. In addition to learning general principles, the program employs work integrated exercises to enhance candidate's ability to apply their knowledge and skills in locally relevant practices. The program is designed around project-based and work-integrated learning and is supported by experienced course tutors as well as a network of senior members of the profession acting as work-based mentors. The graduate diploma qualification has been accepted by IRSE (UK) as an alternative to the traditional IRSE examinations for purpose of membership application.
  • Entry requirements
    * full-time employment in the relevant field and agreement of support from employer (compulsory); and * recent (within five years) graduates of Bachelor of Engineering courses. Candidates who do not meet the above requirements but have at least five years of work experience in the appropriate field and show learning maturity and capability may be accepted on the recommendation (in writing) of their employer.

    About Railway Signalling

    This suite of courses in railway signalling is developed by the collaborative Research Centre for Railway Engineering and Technology (Rail CRC), which is the peak railway research centre body in Australia, through its partners (including CQUniversity and key industry partners) and in partnership with the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers IRSE (Australasian section).  The courses are licensed to the CQUniversity’s Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Health for offering in the distance mode.

    The program is designed to develop competent and qualified railway signal engineers by providing formal education to new graduates who need to work in the railway signalling discipline.
