  • Objectives
    Students will conduct independent research and prepare a research thesis. The emphasis is on student-centred learning and high quality, confident and competent scholastic achievement in research. Facilitates independent thought, and will require the student to conceive, plan and conduct a piece of research, taking into account the logistical and practical aspects of conducting applied research. The work will be judged on its theoretical coherence, appropriate use of a research method, ethical conduct of the study and data collection, correct analysis of data, and appropriate conclusions and their relevance to justice, criminology, compliance or law enforcement.

    This course is not available for on-campus study by students on an International student visa.
    This course structure contains information about the units which comprise the course as well as the credit points required to successfully complete it.

    This course comprises two years of full-time study or the part-time equivalent. The program includes two stages. Stage 1 requires the completion of 120 credit points (6 units). Stage 2 requires the completion of a thesis.

    Year Two
    The thesis component of this course is entirely research based and equivalent to one year full-time study. Each semester students will enrol into the research thesis unit:

    at 50 or 100% of the full-time enrolment. Students are required to continue re-enrolling in the thesis component of their study until the thesis is submitted for examination.
