  • Course description
Are you a dancer who loves to make it up as you go along? Do you love the creative, expressive side to dance?

This dance improvisation course will encourage you to explore your own unique movement vocabulary - through dance made in the moment. Discover spontaneity, authenticity and delight, as you work on your own and in groups to liberate the playful side of yourself. Explore connections between your inner self and your moving body through dancing, reflecting and sharing with others. In a climate of creative freedom and trust, discover inspiration in each moving moment.

This dance improvisation course aims to deepen students’ confidence in their creative impulses. Personal movement vocabularies will be explored and expanded through improvisational structures or ‘scores’ in solos, duets and groups. Students will accumulate techniques that deepen focus, expand expression and encourage individuality, as well as the ability to respond and attune to others with sensitivity and availability. Improvisation will also be explored as a performance modality in its own right, as we cultivate the skills of developing movement material with imagination and coherence.

*Some improvisation experience require and curiosity a must! Numbers limited to 16 places.
