    A one year, part-time evening course aimed at enhancing your artistic expression and providing you with a practical introduction to the essential foundations of acting in theatre, film and television. Minimum age for enrolment is 18 years old.

    The Acting Studio is divided into four terms. Each term is an average of 10 weeks for six hours per week. Classes are conducted in a group workshop environment with opportunities to receive individual attention throughout the year. Participants are issued with a Certificate of Completion at the end of the course, (based on minimum attendance requirements).

    Term 1: In the Beginning
    Explore the essential elements of acting including Space, Ensemble, Impulse, Imagination, Text and Audience. Develop your creativity, physical presence and vocal skills.

    Term 2: Scene Skills and Exploration
    Develop a practical approach to a range of texts, including Shakespeare and contemporary scripts. Scene analysis, character, status, language and subtext are essential skills for any actor and will be explored this term.

    Term 3: Acting for Film & TV
    Develop your natural screen presence and learn skills specific to acting in front of the camera using a variety of improvisations, film and television scripts. Learn the skills needed to give your best performance in the fast paced world of a film set.

    Term 4: Performance Project
    Using skills developed over the year, participants work together with a director towards a final ensemble showing for an invited audience. Learn how to create a theatrical event exploring space, time, objects, and the actor – audience relationship.
