        Career Prospects:

Landscaping is varied and rewarding work. As a specialist in this field, you could help to create and maintain outdoor environments including private and commercial gardens, public parks, golf courses and much more.

Trained professionals in this field can pursue a wide range of career opportunities. Options include:

        Landscape Contractors

Landscape designers are often on staff to share their knowledge of design, cultivation, plants and planting, hardscapes, and more. Some centres may offer their customers individualized landscape design services.

        Retail Garden Centres

These centres often employ landscapers to share their knowledge of design, plants, hardscapes and other key topics. Certain garden centres may also offer their customers personalised landscape design services.

        Wholesale Greenhouses or Nurseries

Working for a plant supplier like this, you might be involved in tasks such as selecting plants, creating plans for planting, purchasing supplies and establishing and maintaining inventories.

        Interiorscape Companies

Shopping centres, office complexes, hospitals, schools and homeowners increasingly use landscapers to create interior plantscapes, courtyards and gardens.

        Clubs & Resorts

These businesses often rely on professionals with knowledge of plants and grasses to keep their outdoor areas looking their best.

        Public Gardens

From parks and botanical gardens to historic sites and government facilities, a range of public gardens rely on landscapers for design and maintenance.

Typical tasks, and opportunities to advance

Typical tasks you may be involved with as a landscaper include discussing clients’ needs, designing and planning green spaces, working from plans made by landscape architects or garden designers, ordering supplies, preparing the ground, planting and pruning trees and shrubs, installing features such as paving, rock gardens and paths, and ongoing maintenance.

There are many opportunities to specialise within the landscaping profession, and also ways to advance your career. For example, in larger firms, you may seek promotion to a supervisory or management role. Alternatively, you may decide to become a self-employed contractor, giving you the chance to be your own boss.

Graduates typically have personal responsibility and autonomy (semi-independence) in performing technical operations or organizing others in the workplace.

        Prerequisites:

There are NO previous work or education requirements for entry into our landscaping course.

So, if you want to enhance your landscaping skills and realise your goal of working in this exciting and varied profession, simply enrol on our learning programme today.

        Course Length:

Students typically complete their course within 24 weeks.

Enrolling on an ICI landscaping course gives you the chance to study at your own pace, without having to worry about meeting assignment deadlines. You determine how quickly you graduate. You could do this in a matter of months if you wish to fast track your studies, or alternatively, you can take up to three years. It’s up to you.

        Study Mode: Online Learning

Our entire landscaping course is conducted online via distance learning. Also known as correspondence learning, this offers maximum flexibility. You can fit your studies around work, family and any other commitments you have. And because the course is remote, you don’t have to worry about commuting to attend classes in person.

We have devised our landscaping course to be highly relevant and engaging, and you can learn, take assessments and access tutorial assistance whenever and wherever you are in the world.

        Recognition & Accreditation:

Our online landscaping course is recognised and accredited by the International Association of Private Career Colleges (IAPCC) and the International Approval and Registration Centre (IARC). ICI courses are not AQF qualifications. ICI is an independent global awarding body that develops and administers career-related curriculum and training programs. When you graduate from an ICI training program you join ICI graduates in over 150 countries around the world.

Like all ICI learning programmes, it is highly practical. It teaches far more than simply the theory of landscaping, providing you with in-depth knowledge and skills that will give you a competitive advantage in this dynamic industry.

ICI is a member of the Australian Society of Horticulture Science. AuSHS promotes the horticulture profession, the study of horticulture, introduces codes of management and ethics and provides technical advice to government and industry organisations.
