Course description
This unit deals with the provision of advanced first aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance, and provision of support to other providers.
This unit builds on HLTFA301B Apply First Aid to include additional skills and use a range of equipment.
Recommended for: First Aiders and other staff who may be required to administer First Aid on the job
Course Duration: Two days (may be additional pre reading or tasks)
Prerequisites: This unit should be assessed after achievement of HLTFA301B. The unit is structured to incorporate HLTFA404A Apply advanced resuscitation techniques.
Course Content:
1. Assess the situation
2. Manage the casualty(s)
3. Coordinate first aid activities until arrival of medical assistance
4. Communicate essential incident details
5. Evaluate the incident
Assessment Method: Participation in class discussions, demonstration of practical skills and written assessment
Course Award: On successful completion of the course participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the nationally recognised unit of competency from the HLT07 Health Training Package, Apply Advanced First Aid HLTFA402B and a wallet card
