Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology

  • Objectives This course provides students, who have previously completed an accredited three-year sequence in psychology, with the opportunity for advanced level study in a selection of areas of specialisation in psychology. The course has been designed to provide graduates with an approved accredited fourth year of training in psychology.
  • Entry requirements Completion, within last five years, of a Bachelor degree including: 1. an accredited three year sequence in psychology; 2. at least a credit average across all units of the pass degree; 3. at least credit level in four second and third year psychology units; and 4. at least a pass in the prerequisites for units to be undertaken in the Postgraduate Diploma.

  • Course description The Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology is recognised by the Australian Psychological Society as an accredited fourth-year program in Psychology. Those students who satisfactorily complete the program will be eligible for probationary registration as psychologists in Victoria, as well as becoming eligible for associate membership with the Australian Psychological Society.

    EFTSL value of units: All 10 cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a cp value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.

    1. Requirements for Completion of the Postgraduate Diploma

    To qualify for the Postgraduate Diploma, a student must complete 80 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:

       1. 30 cp from Core Units
       2. 40 cp from Research Units;
       3. 10 cp from Electives, consisting of 10 cp from each of Group A and Group B, or as otherwise approved by the Course Co-ordinator.
